I was interested if anyone knew of any good deals on pistol ammo, for range practice? I usually purchase through online auctions like Gunbroker, AuctionArms or Ammoman.com. You can usually find a bargain if you look long enough. Any other good resources?

I'd be interested in almost any caliber, we use 380, 9mm, 40, and 45 but mostly 9mm and 380. I was just wondering if there was another bulk supplier local or on the internet other than what I had listed. I also thought someone may be interested in checking out these sites, the last Gunbroker auction I won was $176 for 1k rounds of 124gr FMJ 9mm Blazer. You can't hardly reload for that. Deals like that aren’t that often, but you can usually get 1k of 9mm for $210 including shipping.

Natchez, ammunition to go, georgia arms, or even walmart or academy have good prices if they have stuff sometimes.
It looks like the price of ammo is going back up lately. Don't know if it is metal prices or demand. Lead prices have been on the rise it seems as well.

Even things like cotton and wood pulp are used in the process for powder compounds, so there are allot of things that can affect the price. I hate to break out the single stage press before winter. I really need to get a progressive loader. This last weekend Wal Mart had a TRU (something) brand 9mm 124gr aluminum case for $10 for a 50 round box. I bought 1 box and it shot fine. Wal Mart and Academy look at you kinda funny when you want to buy 20 boxes, and they usually don't have that much on hand. Not to hijack my own thread, but what is the favorite progressive loader? I'm looking at a Dillon, but I'm thinking a Hornady Lock-N-Load is just as good for less money.

You won't find any complaints on the Dillon stuff. Their no questions warranty is hard to beat. They are a bit more expensive on the front end, so each persons finances will always come into play when looking at progressives.
I have heard good stuff about the lock n load but no personal experience.
I am too cheap so I still use a Lyman Turret press. Yea it takes more time but it is sort of relaxing to me to get out in the utility room by myself at night, turn the radio on and just crank out the rounds.

Ammoseek and ammoengine.com are good sites that search for the best prices on ammo for you.
As far as presses go, the dillon 650 is hard to beat. My friend can load fifty rounds of 40s&w in less than five minutes.

I've been buying the Monarch brass 9mm for $10.50 ish per box at Academy. Shoots a little dirty but it's cheap and since I can't afford the Dillon yet... it's my affordable option.

Natchez has PMC 223 55gr on sale for $5.70 a 20rd box, if you buy 1000 rds. www.natchezss.comAdd shiping and your up to $6.28 a 20rd box. Still not bad deal. I noted that "Cheaper than Dirt" and "Ammo to Go" are in Texas so you have to add in the tax if you buy from them. If you havn't ordered over the internet, they'll deliver the ammo right to your door. Get to know the UPS and Fed Ex drivers, and they'll put them at the back door for you, if your not home.

The New boston WalMart carries the Federal 100 pack for $19.89 I believe. It is a little shy of $20 per 100. This is 115 gr FMJs in brass. That is $.19 per round. The deal mentioned above $176 for 1K rounds is $.18 per round without any shipping. Assuming you have the equipment, you can get components (1K 124gr LRN 9mm, 1 lb powder, 1K primers) for about $.13 per round. That is counting the cost of the whole pound of powder to the 1K rds as well. - 1K rds 9mm 125 Cone Nose Bevel Base for $68 shipped in a flat rate box for $8. - 1 lb of powder @ $25 - 1K primers @ $30 _______________ = $131.00 per 1K rounds with powder left over! You still have room to figure in a bit for your labor if you would like to get paid!! As for press, I am old school. Lee classic turrent for me. I don't get the quantity but I have excellant quality so far! Knock on wood!

Last two boxes of Winchester White Box 9mm I bought at Wally-World was 24.97 each. Used to be a lot less... Makes me glad I bought my Dillon 650.
