There has been some previous discussion about the possibility of a family day or open house at the range.
It is definately too hot now, but in the fall when it cools down, is there any interest in the group to have such an event. We could have a cookout with burgers/dogs, nothing extravagent.
If the members who have .22's would be willing, we could stage each of the bays and rifle range with .22's for those who are new or interested in shooting but have little experience or don't have guns or their own. A couple of members would be assigned as RSO's of each bay or table at the range.
I am more than happy to offer the use of all but a couple of our .22's for something like this.
Anyway, what are others thoughts on this type of event? I figured if we hash out some of the details here, it would be half way organized when we bring it before the club members at a meeting.
I think this would be a great way for the wives, kids or friends to see the range and see what makes shooting so much fun to us. Also it doesn't hurt to get to know our members better.

I love this idea and really think we need to work on it for maybe sometime in October.

Count me in. They can use any .22 I've got and I'll supply the ammo. Love watching the kids shoot and have fun. Keep us posted. GP

We could grill burgers and hot dogs as well. Maybe do one bay like an USPSA stage but use 22 pistols instead of centerfire, and have a RSO walk them through.

Randy had suggested having a cookout/fish fry after last April's clean up day.
Since time is always in short supply for everyone, what do ya'll think of doing the family day the afternoon of the cleanup the end of Oct. The range would look good, this would be incentive to get more folks out for the cleanup, and there would not be any matches to contend with.
Or do ya'll think that is too much for one day?

The people who worked on the cleanup would be ready to get home I'd imagine. But there's nothing to stop us from doing it after.
